Prince Bodi-Arerebo added that the programme was organized to beseech God for the Governor to scale through his second term bid in 2023 successfully devoid of any obstacle.

He used the forum to call on all the people of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality regardless of their Political inclinations to unite and see themselves as an inseparable entity, and love one another in order to foster peace and development of the region.

Prince Bodi Arerebo commended the people of the state for the overwhelming support and cooperation accorded to the prosperity administration, and urged them to sustain the tempo in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

“I believe that within the next two years Bayelsans will see the best to come again from Senator Diri. And if given him another opportunity for him to come back, he will do better than we anticipated. We should support him spiritually and otherwise.

I also encourage Bayelsans to give him that opportunity and that support. Above all, create an enabling environment for the governor to do the best he can do in terms of development for the people,” he said.

On the motive behind the formation of the “Friends of Senator Douye Diri (FSDD), a body made up of elder statesmen, elites and peoples from different walks of life across the Ijaw Nation, the President said, “Our aims and objectives is to ensure that we promote the developmental programmes of Senator Douye Diri, bring to the awareness of Bayelsans and the entire Ijaw people what he has been doing and also solicit for more support of the Ijaw people for him. Also, to embark on empowerment programmes as well as promote education among others.”

He expressed deep appreciation for the Elders statesmen, the Executive and members of FSSD for their various contributions towards achieving the set goals of the body.

He also used the medium to call on the Federal Government, Donor Agencies and other financial bodies to assist in the development of Bayelsa State owing to its peculiar terrain.

According to Prince Bodi-Arerebo, the 13 Percent derivation and ecological fund is not enough to meet up the developmental needs of the people, particularly in the provision of basic infrastructures such as roads to link communities from the rural areas to the state capital.
