Imposition and Collection of Levies:Bayelsa State Government Bans CDCs, Youth Organisations, Others

The Bayelsa State Government has banned imposition and collection of Development Levy from investors and property developers by Community Development Committees (CDCs), youth organisations and related groups in the state forthwith.

The state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai disclosed this in a public announcement in Yenagoa, capital of the state.
She said the ban
is part of government’s commitment to fast track development, prevent extra burden on investors and promote business friendly environment, and warned those involved to desist from it henceforth.
" Inview of this, Community Development Committees, youth organisations are hereby advised to desist from demanding or collecting development levy in their own interest.
However, companies will continue to undertake corporate social responsibility projects within the framework of regulations by relevant agencies.
Government expects full compliance, please," she stated.
