Electricity consumers lauded Governor Dickson’s plan to meet PHEDC -Says Consumers will start to pay electricity bill by March ending

Electricity consumers in Bayelsa state have commended Governor Henry Seriake Dickson over its government plan to meet with the management of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) to address the lingering issues of arbitrary increase of electricity bills and the irregular power supply in the state.

 intimidation of electricity consumers in the state, they would start to pay electricity bill by March ending, pointing out that no electricity was supplied in January and February this year.

“We can’t pay for what we did not consume. Era of intimidation and oppression is over. We know our rights,” they said.

It would recall that the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson while briefing newsmen shortly after the 90th State Executive Council meeting in Yenagoa, assured that, efforts are being made to address the issue of prolonged power outage towards ameliorating the predicament of electricity consumers in the state.

According to Commissioner Iworiso-Markson, the Council deliberated extensively on the problem, stating that, the State Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), would chair a meeting with the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company to proffer lasting solutions to the power situation, including issues of arbitrary electricity bills.

Also in contribution, the Commissioner for Power, Chief Partner Jim-Ogbolo, said, the Council expressed displeasure over the arbitrary payment of electricity bills and called on the Company to provide meters to its customers towards ensuring that consumers pay bills according to the power consumed.
