Group calls for unanimous endorsement of Professor Ogoni for Governor of Bayelsa

The groups make the call in a press statement issued in Yenagoa on
Monday signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Austin Genesis for on behalf of
the organization.
According to the organization which comprises professionals from
different walks of life, drawn across the eight LGAs of the state, said the
call has become imperative pointing out that Professor Ogoni is most qualified
for the office of the Governor of Bayelsa State based on his pedigree and
exceptional leadership trait, his enviable tract records and vision as a man of
generosity who attach importance to public interest above personal gains.
It added that when given the mandate no doubt he will use his rare
wealth of experience gained over the years to pilot the affairs of the state in
the best interest of all to enhance the desired development of the state to
give the people a new lease of life.
Commending the Bayelsa State Restoration Government led by Governor
Henry Seriake Dickson for its high level of performance and enviable
achievements, the organization stated emphatically without mincing words that
the state need assertive, matured, experience, courageous and detribalized
leader that is sincere and having the fear of God in all its dealings to take
over from where Governor Dickson will stop on February 14, 2020 to move the
state forward.
The organization affirmed that considering the numerous natural
resources God has endowed the state, stressed the need for Governor Dickson’s
successor to be a man who has technological knowhow and wealth of experience in
the various field of human endeavour to administer the affairs of the state, as
he will use his wealth of experience to tap these resources for optimum benefit
of the people by addressing the problems of mass unemployment through viable
agricultural programmes and industrialization.
The group reiterated that their choice for Professor Ogoni for Governor
was predicated on the fact that when given the mandate he will manage the state
economy in such a manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and
happiness of every indigene of the state on the basis of social justice and
equality of status and opportunity.
Describing Professor Ogoni as a pace-setter and distinguished
personality who has the interest of the people at heart, the body affirmed that
his administration when given the office of the governor will institutionalize
transparency and openness in the management of funds in the state to address
the desired yearnings and aspirations of the people to make the state haven of
peace and progress devoid of poverty in our families.
The organization have the confidence that he would ensure constant
electricity supply and embark on construction of viable motorable roads to link
the riverine communities to the state capital in order to boost
industrialization and business activities and make life meaningful for the
populace.
According to them, Professor Ogoni deserves to be given the chance to
govern the state by voting for him massively during the Peoples Democratic
Party’s (PDP) Primaries and the November 16 governorship election for the
interest of the present and future generations.
This, the group acknowledged his educational background and the various
offices he held as well as his accomplishments to the upliftment of the socio-economic,
political and technological well being of the people.
It would be recalled that Professor Ogoni who hails from Ologi Community
in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State acquired numerous degrees which
he impart his exceptional knowledge on the people of society to promote
educational development of the state and nation.
Prof. Ogoni bagged a Degree on Issues in Corporate Governance in the
University of Wolvehampton United Kingdom, Degree on Creative Leadership for
Total Transformation for African Tertiary Institute in University of Stelenbosch Business School
Cape Town South Africa, PhD Chemical Engineering in Rivers State University of
Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt, M.Sc Chemical Engineering in
Azerbaijan Red Banner Order Institute of Petroleum and Chemistry Baka (USSR),
WASE at Matter Dei High School Imiringi, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State and his First
School Leaving Certificate at St. James Primary School Anyama also in Ogbia
LGA.
The sage has served mankind in various capacity as Vice Chancellor Niger
Delta University, elected Deputy vice Chancellor Niger Delta University,
Elected Dean Faculty of Engineering, Professor Chemical Engineering,
Development of Academic Programs of the University, Head of Department Niger
Delta University, Head of Department RSUST and had Academic and Administrative
experience.
In addition, he is an accomplished Chemical Engineer with research interest
in biokinetics and he join Rivers State University of Science and Technology in
1983 and served as Coordinator of programs, several Senate, faculty and
department committees.
Professor Ogoni belongs to several professional bodies, participated in
various consultancy groups as well as involved in several external assessments
beside the services he rendered as resource person to various organizations.
Apart from these, Professor Ogoni rendered several selfless service to
humanity while as Chairman University Housing Committee, Member University
Tender’s Board, Member University governing Council, Member Finance and General
Purpose Committee, Member PTDF Central Selection committee Overseas
Scholarship, PTDF Resource Person Research Grant Project Evaluation,
Professorial assessment (UNIPORT, UNIBEN), Consultant for SPDC, EIF among
others as well as member COREN accreditation team and Nigeria Society of
engineer failure analysis sub-committee.
He is also an active member of several relevant professional bodies such
as Nigeria Society of Chemical Engineers (NSCHE), Nigerian Society of Engineers
(NSE), Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), American
Institution of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) and Institute of Corporate
Administration.
In appreciation of his enviable leadership qualities and experience,
Professor Ogoni was conferred with several meritorious awards from different
organizations.
Some of these Awards to mention a few included Distinguished Leadership
Award of Excellence in recognition of his immense contribution of Nation
Building, Prestigious Award in recognition of Selfless Service to humanity as
Vice Chancellor by Student Union Government and a Meritorious Award in
recognition of his Engineering Excellence and Notable Leadership quality by the
Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftman, Meritorious Award by the
Independent Magazines Publishers Association of Nigeria, Abuja (FCT) in
recognition of Exemplary Leadership in Public Service and Educational
Administration, Appointment/Award of Ambassador of Peace by the United Nation
POLAG among others.
Consequent upon his enviable performance and his exemplary leadership
qualities, the organization called on politicians in the state irrespective of
their political affiliations to eschew politics of bitterness, thuggery,
blackmail and work as a team to realize his aspiration to govern the state on
February 14, 2020 for the corporate benefit of all devoid of sentiments and
discriminations.
