Bayelsa State House of Assembly pledges to partner with journalists

    Bayelsa State House of Assembly under the dogged, dynamic and committed able leadership of the Speaker, Rt Honourable Abraham Ingobere has expressed its determination to partner with journalists to achieve its desired set goals for the state.

 The Chairman House Committee on Information, Honourable Tare Porri dropped the hint in an interaction session with Newspaper Publishers and Assembly Correspondents at the Assembly Complex inYenagoa, to mark the 2021 resumption of the New Year session of the House for effective productivity.

    Honourable Porri commended the journalists for projecting the image of the State House of Assembly to an enviable height and enjoined them to redouble their efforts by ensuring continuous adequate publicity of the programmes and policies of the House to achieve the desired set goals.

   The House Information Committee Chairman said the meeting was summon to interact with Journalists to familiarize himself with them as the new Chairman House Committee on Information, adding that the gesture would give him the opportunity to ascertain the challenges facing correspondents, their report and the gains so far.

   He said that the present leadership of Rt Hon Ingobere wants all to be up and doing, adding that gone are the days things are not done properly.

   Honourable  Porri advised journalists to cross-check facts before publication in order to avert negative reports.

   He reiterated the commitment and the determination of the House to support and encourage the journalists in the task of realizing the set goals of the House.

   According to him the House will meeting quarterly with journalists for effective reportage, support and productivity, pointing out that those media houses that are not active in reporting the activities the State House of Assembly should shun the habit this year.

   Porri restated the willingness of the House to encourage and improve the welfares of correspondents of those media Houses that are ensuring regular report of the State House of Assembly proceedings and programmes.

   In his remarks, the Chairman of the Apex Newspaper Publishing body in the state under the aegis of the Bayelsa Federated Newspaper Publishers Association (BAFENPA), Comrade Easterday Ayibaitari Job lauded Honourable Tare Pori for the gesture, describing him as a man endowed with the wisdom, capacity and the dynamism to project the image of the State House of Assembly to an enviable height under the visionary leadership of the Rt Hon Abraham Ingobere.

   He appealed to the State House of Assembly to review the stipend for local newspaper correspondent covering the proceedings of the House as well as rendering other support to enhance effective and prompt publicity of its programmes owing to the high cost of production of newspapers.

   BAFENPA Boss assured the willingness of the local newspaper publishers to give adequate publicity of the policies and programmes of the House to projects its good image to the outside world.
