Her clearance was sequel to the adoption of the recommendation of the Ad-hoc Committee set up by the Rt. Hon Speaker, Abraham Ingobere on June 30, 2022 during the screening of Commissioner Nominees, to investigate her conduct towards the Members House Committee on Transport while she was a serving Commissioner in the Ministry of Transport.

The Committee in its investigation and foundings, discovered that Grace Ekiotenne  was not aware of section 128(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which empowers the State House of Assemblies to carry out oversight functions to investigate conduct of any person, authority, ministry, or Government department.

The House adopted the report, and at the Committee of the Whole, cleared her because she was remorse about her conduct, as she even wrote a letter of apology to Mr Speaker, and implored for forgiveness, hence the decision of the House to forgive her.

The motion for adoption of the Report of the House Ad-HOC Committee on the investigation of Grace Ekiotenne’s conduct towards Members of House Committee on Transport was moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo, and is seconded by Hon (High Chief) Metema Obordor, Member Representing Ogbia Constituency Two.
