Segibo Presents N8.9 billion 2024 Budget To Southern Ijaw Legislative Assembly

 The Executive Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, Hon Target Isaiah Segibo, on Thursday, presented a budget estimate of Eight Billion, Nine Hundred and Eighty-Two Million, Six Hundred and Twenty-Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and One Naira, Seven Kobo ( N8,982,624,701.70K) for the 2024 fiscal year to the Southern Ijaw Legislative Assembly.

 Presenting the budget tagged, "budget of sustainable development", Hon Segibo said, 'with the support of the members of the Legislative Assembly and the people of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, the objective of the budget would be achieved to satisfy the desires of the people by delivering sustainable dividends of democracy in line with his campaign key promises in education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, poverty reduction, sports, employment generation, workers welfare, security, water supply, basic infrastructure and rural development.

The council boss said, 67.407 percent of the budget is for capital expenditure, while 30.44 percent is for recurrent expenditure.

On the sources to fund the budget, Segibo said, would be mainly from internally generated revenue, Federal Government Statutory Allocation, mineral derivation, grants, and other capital receipts.

He said his administration would create indices and break grounds across development sectors owing to council commitments in an inclusive growth.

" Of particular interest, Mr Leader and other members of Southern Ijaw Legislative Assembly, are the recent data on healthcare delivery, poverty rate, unemployment, welfare of workers and fiscal management of the council area as well as security.

All these are critical demonstration that Southern Ijaw Local Government Area will be better within the three (3) years of my focussed administration," he stated.

On that note, the Leader and other respected members of Southern Ijaw Legislative Assembly, I lay before you the the 2024 budget estimates for your kind consideration and passage," the council boss said.

Receiving the 2024 Appropriation Bill, the Leader of Southern Ijaw Legislative Assembly, Hon Edward Oweila, lauded the council chairman, Hon Target Isaiah Segibo for his prompt presentation of the 2024 budget, and assured that the budget would be passed on time to enable the administration carryout it's set goals to improve the socio-economic and political well-being of the people.
