Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Honourable commissioner for information and Orientation, Bayelsa state
Mr. Iworiso-Markson made the assertion in his opening remarks on the occasion of the Inter-Ministerial/Agency briefing at Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa, as part of the activities to mark the 6th Anniversary of the Restoration Government.
The Honourable Commissioner, who described Governor Dickson as a firm, resolute and a great achiever despite the many distractions and undue criticism, noted that the administration has recorded unprecedented multifarious achievements in all sectors of the state to improve the socio-economic, political as well as the cultural well being of the people.
He said the impact of the Restoration Government is real, adding that we could better relate with our development when we realize the import of the current investment and its impact on the socio-economic growth of the state.
According to him, from all indications, the next foreseeable years will come with so much improvement in the quality of life for our people.
“That is when our people can better appreciate the true meaning and impact of the investment in education, building model boarding schools across the state with over 5,000 students on scholarship enjoying free nutritious three square meals daily, free uniforms, school sandals, school bags and free text books are all given to the students without a single kobo being paid by them or their parents. This in addition to the huge resources committed to building roads across the state in spite of the huge cost, building and equipping Public Hospitals, Healthcare Centre’s, solid empowerment to unleash the creative energy of people in Business and such innovative ideas of buildings an International Airport with a 3.5km runway with the singular objective of opening up our state to attract genuine investors and thereby expanding the economic base create alternative sources of wealth for our people.”
Iworiso-Markson observed that through thick and thin, Governor Dickson exhibited uncommon approach to governance.
“He is firm, resolute, pursuing, doggedly his goal with vigor despite the many distractions and undue criticism. He surely knew where he is heading and looking back now, he has made a distinct success of his mission. And we cannot but notice the way and manner through which Governor achieved his quiet revolution in the state.
It is a lesson in effective leadership; liberal, focused, very determined and responsible. His leadership style and understanding of governance have helped in no small way to facilitate this trend of success after success in the last six years and I think he deserves some respect and due accolades from all of us,” said the Information Commissioner.
Mr. Iworiso-Markson pointed out that Governor Dickson’s led administration and its leadership have been completely civil as it should be in democratic governance for the betterment of the people.
He added that the gesture deserves to properly commend the governor’s politics of inclusion, making his government to serve the overall interest of the people and even ensuring the collective interest of the Ijaw nation.
“That is Governor Dickson’s sense of what I call the “New Politics” an ideal whose main thrust is only hinged on development. It is one that is opposed to the politics of waste and brigandage.  No vendetta of any sort. This I think is the way forward for our dear state, all things considered, therefore, now is the time to give greater support to the Restoration Government, the government of the people, as it races to the end,” Information Commissioner stated.
The Commissioner expressed happiness for the administration’s efforts to sustaining peace and stability in the state which he described as pivot for development.
