Governor Dickson unfolds his 6 years achievement in office .Says development of the state is a collective responsibility

Governor Henry
Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has released the achievements recorded by his
administration for the 6 years in office.
Making the
revelation while declaring open the Inter Ministerial/Agency Briefing at
Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa, Governor Dickson said all sector of the
economy have experience unprecedented achievement.
The Governor who
spoke through the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd)
highlighted some of the landmark achievements to include revamping of education
sector, provision of adequate security to make the state one of the safest in
the country.
The Governor
also used the forum to charge the people to see the development of the state as
a collective responsibility by making positive suggestions that would move the
state forward.
The presentation
of achievements commenced with the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
Presenting the score
card of his Ministry, the Honourable Commissioner, Mr. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo said
the Ministry initiated about 104 projects under Governor Dickson’s
administration which include public buildings and roads, bridges and Jetties.
According to him
majority of the projects have been completed while some are ongoing.
The projects he
mentioned includes Ijaw National Academy, building of Isaac Adaka Boro Town, construction
of Ecumenical Centre Igbogene, Governor’s lodge at Sagbama, Diagnostic Centre
and staff quarters, secretariat annexes, Iconic Governor’s office, deputy
Governor’s residence, 10 new commissioners quarters, 4 new annexes secretariat,
police station at the commissioners quarters, state archives and VIP lodge.
Others are Security
Command and Control Centre, Guard Brigade Quarters, staff pavilion, Governor’s
lodge in Nembe, Medical staff quarters for House Officers at FMC, club house at
Onopa, Toro-Orua pavilion, Odi pavilion, Nembe police station, police station
at Ofoni, the University of Africa, Senate building in NDU and a meeting place
in Amassoma.
Enumerating
further, he said the ministry also executed College of Agriculture Ofoni, now part
of the university Government House, police station at Azikoro, police station at
Turo Orua, Government Lodge in Abuja, Government House Gate, police station,
supermarket and restaurant at 500 bed hospital, Heliport at Government House,
police station at Bayelsa Palm and police station at Otuoke.
The ministry also constructed Bayelsa Transport
Company Terminal road close to Swali, construction of market stall at Agoro,
completion of Izon warri House, the Armory at State Police Headquarters, dualization
of Opolo – Elebele road, dualization of Azikoro road, dualization of Road
Safety Road,-Ovom, dualization of Water Board road Ovom, dualization of the
road from AIT to Bayelsa Palm and GloryLand Igbogene road as well as reconstruction
of Tombia – Etegwe road. Others include
construction of access road to Boro town, access road and internal roads at
Ijaw National Academy, construction of internal roads in Nembe, internal roads
in Krokrosei, completion of Oguobiri Torubene Bridge, completion of Access road
to Oguobiri Bridge, construction of internal roads at Toru-Orua, construction
of Old Assembly Quarters Bye-Pass and the construction of the Flyover in
Bayelsa.
Other projects
he mentioned include the Bayelsa International Airport, construction of some internal roads to link
Angalabiri and Toru Orua, internal roads in Agbere and Odoni, access roads to
the Bayelsa International Airport, access roads to the Heliport, Tourist Island
Bridge Onopa ongoing, construction of road at St. Stephen Church Otueke, construction of raod at some plots in
Azikoro, Construction of Sagbama - Ekeremor road, re-surfacing Sagbama East West
road junction, construction of Swali Ox Bow Lake road and access road to Heroes
park.
The commissioner
said the ministry has constructed Jetties in some communities and the shore
protection line at Toro Orua is ongoing; constructed Jetty at Isampou, Internal
roads to Agoro while the ministry is also doing some internal roads at Kolaama ,
clearing of a road across Oguobiri bridge, constructing a road in Opolo and the road to the Nembe palm is under
construction.
“We are
constructing a road around Swali market, Yenagoa – Oporoma road will be given priority.
We constructed road to Akaba – Obogoro and the deeper Life road. We contributed
and completed Nembe road. We started construction of Imiringi Bridge and it
will be completed by June this year.
We completed a
new Government House Car Park while Justice Tabai road has also been
constructed and completed.”
Through
intervention and collaboration, SEEFOR Projects, we have been able to construct
over one hundred concrete walkway within Yenagoa and its surrounding environment
among other numerous projects,”he stated.
