FRSC Sector Commander sideline journalists in Bayelsa
The Sector Commander
of the Federal Road Safety Corps for Bayelsa state, Mr Ikechukwu Lawrence Igwe was alleged has sidelined some media
organizations from covering its programmes in the state.

reliable learnt that some media organization journalists were sidelined for
media coverage at the just concluded last Thursday 2nd Quarter Workshop
organized by the state command of the FRSC at Yenagoa Local Government
Conference Hall, in Yenagoa.

The state Sector
Commander was alleged had said that he invited only six media organizations for
the programme thereby denying other media organizations that went for coverage
the opportunity to have access to information.
According to our
source the Sector Commander averred that he only invite The Punch, The Nation,
Niger Delta Television, NTA, News Agency of Nigeria and Radio Bayelsa .to cover
the programme.
But when our source
asked why he said even The Guardian newspaper The Punch Correspondent sought
that it should be included among those invited but he said no because there was paucity of funds.
Our source insisted
that his action was against the freedom of information but he only replied that
he had said it, and they left.
But, reacting to the
allegation on phone call yesterday (Saturday), the Public Relations Officer of
the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Faith Igbagara said
she was not aware that the Sector Commander has sidelined some media organizations
for the programme.
According to her even Radio Bayelsa Reporter
went late but she accommodated for the programme.
