APC Chairman urges Bayelsans to accept Supreme Court verdict - Bayelsa Governorship Election

The Bayelsa state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), Barrister Jotham Amos has enjoined all it party’s faithful , teeming
supporters and the people of the state to accept the yesterday’s decision of
the Supreme court in good faith and ensue peace and love in the state.

Barrister Amos gave
the charge on Thursday in Yenagoa, capital of the state while addressing a
press conference at Ernest Ikoli Press Centre.
The party boss in the
state, said emphatically that “ As a party, we must unite to uphold peace to
leverage on the love extended to us by Bayelsans as clearly demonstrated on the
November 16 , 2019 Governorship election”.
Barrister Amos on
behalf of Chief David Lyon and the leadership of the party in the state
commended the people of the state, especially the electorates for voting
massively for the Candidate of the APC during the last year’s November 16
governorship election to enhance its victory at the poll.
He described the
gesture as an eloquent testimony of the ‘Change Matrix’ all the people yearned
and desired.
“We are indeed
specially honoured and humbled to have over Three Hundred and Forty Thousand (340,000)
votes, that to us demonstrated the change matrix we all yearned and desired,”
he said.
He recalled that on
the February 13, 2020 the Supreme Court disqualified the APC ticket which led
to the sworn- in of Senator Douye Diri
and Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpor
as Governor and Deputy of the state.
Amos noted that that
judgment led to pockets of violence across the state which Chief David Lyon had
condemned it.
“The party not
satisfied with the decision made an appeal to the Apex Court for review.
Yesterday, 26th February 2020 the Supreme Court have expressed its
audacity of finality by upholding her earlier judgment,” Amos stated.
He therefore used the forum to thank all party
faithful and the people of the state for their overwhelming support, prayers,
encouragement and sacrifice in the
course of campaign’s through to the election and even to the present moment.
He was accompanied with Rt Hon W .Seibarugu former Speaker BYSHA/Acting Governor of Bayelsa state , Senator Nimi-Amange and Professor Brisibe among other dignitaries.
