Bayelsa lawmakers grant Governor Diri’s N2.5b loan request .Approves appointment 12 Special Advisers

Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Thursday’s
session presided over by the pragmatic Speaker, Rt Honourable Abraham Ingobere
has granted Governor Douye Diri’s request to access N2.5b loan facility under
Central Bank of Nigeria Health Sector Support.

The Governor ‘request was sequel to the CBN
N100 billion credit support intervention fund to states to expand its
healthcare sector designed to cushion the effects of Covid-19 pandemic on the
nation’s economy.
According to the Governor in his request the
loan when obtain would enable the state government to complete projects like
School of Community Midwifery, purchase of Hospital equipments, completion of
500 Bed Hospital as well as completion and inauguration of referral Hospitals
in the eight local government areas of the state.
Other areas the fund will be used for include
the refurbishing of solar power machines for various health centres and upgrading
of hospitals in the LGAs.
Moving a motion for the approval of
Governor Diri’s request, the leader of the House, Rt Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin
Obolo highlighted the significance of healthcare delivery to human and stressed
the need for approval.
The lawmaker also pointed out that the
health of any nation is the wealth of that state.
The House also used the session to approve
Governor Diri’s request for authorization of appointment of 12 special Advisers.
