Assembly passes 3 point resolution to curb fire incidents in Bayelsa

   Bayelsa State House of Assembly has passed a 3 point resolution to curtail the incessant cases of fire incidents in the state.

 

   According to the resolution the state government has been called upon to take adequate measures to ensure that all major establishments, LGAs, high institutions and cities have trained personnel to fight fire and reduce its spread.

  It also enjoined the State Government in conjunction with relevant authorities to engage the fire service to organise a state wide training and sensitization programme on how to fight fire during emergency.

  The House in the same way urged the state government to come up with a policy statement to make it mandatory for every building either residential or commercial to install fire fighting equipment.

   These resolutions followed a motion jointly moved by the lawmaker representing Southern Ijaw Constituency I, Hon Felix Bonny Ayah and his Ogbia Constituency I counterpart, Hon (High Chief) Mitema Obordor over the rising cases of fire outbreak in private and public buildings and the need to create safety culture as well as preventive measures.

   Supporting the motion, Chief Whip of the House, Hon (Mrs.) Ebiuwou K Obiyai who outlined the merits and demerits of fire incidents call for building of fire service centres in the LGAs.

  The House unanimously support the motion as all spoke in its favour.
