Presenting the Award at the NUJ Press Centre in Yenagoa, the Chairman of the Award Organising Committee, Mr Victor Christopher had said that the Award was in recognition of the recipient’s efficiency, sterling managerial and leadership qualities as well as high level of performance in the discharge of his public functions.

Mr Christopher stated emphatically that the Award was not for money but it was designed to spur the recipient to do more.

Speaking to Global Overseer Editor on his feelings over the meritorious Award conferred on him, the recipient, Mr Christopher Ewhrudjakpo said he feel highly humbled.

He maintained that  he is humbled for the fact that he never thought it that he had done anything that would merited him for the prestigious Award, but the organizers in their own wisdom and assessment, they found him necessary to be conferred with the rare meritorious Award.

“So, I’m humbled because I never felt that I have performed to that level. I feel that there are other permanent secretaries that have performed more than me. But for the year, they have deemed it necessary and it is their own judgment. And by the grace of God, I think it is the Almighty God doing that I am conferred with this honour today,” he said.

Mr. Ewhrudjakpo who ascribed the whole honour to the glory of the Almighty God, averred that the award was a call for more efficiency to duty and service to the people of the state.

He used the forum to call on Nigerians to exhibit the virtues of humility in order to achieve greatness, pointing out that the reward for those who humbled themselves is elevation while the reward for arrogant is reduction.
