Bayelsa Assembly passes 2021 Budget of N329b into law, Diri signed

  The Bayelsa State House of Assembly in its plenary session on Wednesday presided over by the Rt Honourable Speaker,Abraham Ingobere has passed the Appropriation Bill of N329, 029, 043, 669 for the 2021 fiscal year into law.

   Speaking at the sacred floor of the House after passage of the bill, the Speaker lauded the lawmakers for their commitment to service and various contributions towards the prompt and speedy passage of the bill;and adjourned the House to resume on January 18, 2021.

    Addressing journalists shortly after sitting, the Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, who is also the Leader of the House, Rt Honourable Monday B Edwin Obolo had said that the total Budget as earlier presented to the House by the state Governor, Senator Douye Diri was N290, 295,465, 423, explaining that an increase of a total sum of N38, 733, 578,246 was added to the Budget, bringing the total Budget passed to N329, 029, 043, 669.

   The Chairman House Committee on Appropriation further explained that the prompt passage of the Budget was to enable the Executive arm of the state government carry out its statutory functions in the provision of basic infrastructure to enhance the desired needs of the people.

     He further disclosed the budgetary allocation for the state Ministry of works and infrastructure which was N34 billion as earlier located was increased to N54 billion to allow the Prosperity Administration embark on the needed infrastructures.

     Also in his remarks, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon Tari Porri highlighted the gains to be derived arising from the prompt passage of the 2021 budget by the State House of Assembly, and expressed optimism that the Budget would create positive impacts on the lives of the people.

   Meanwhile, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has signed into law the 2021 budget of following its presentation by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere.

    The Governor expressed deep appreciation to the leadership and members of the State House of Assembly for the expeditious passage of the appropriation bill presented to them.

"I laid before you on the 26th November an appropriation bill of N290,295, 465 423 and now you have used your own parameters to raise the figure to N329,029,043,669 naira in the interest of our people. This shows synergy between the executive and the legislative arms," Gov. Diri said.
