Dr Otiotio’s emergence as APC New State Chairman scares political parties in Bayelsa

The election of Dr (Barr) Dennis Otiotio as the All Progressives Congress (APC) new State Chairman in Bayelsa State on Saturday’s nationwide State Congress of the party scared political parties in the state.

The panic according to Global Overseer findings was not unconnected with his enviable track records as a pacesetter and a pragmatic, visionary and dynamic peoples- oriented leader who always battle and win in his pursuit for a better society.

People from different walks of life and many political parties in the state who spoke to Global Overseer Correspondent on condition of anonymity without mincing words shortly after his declaration as winner, said, “with his emergence as the party State Chairman APC has all the chances to emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections in the state if other political parties fail to strategize well.

They added that he is a vibrant, outspoken, fearless and an experienced lawyer, pointing out that as a good administrator and a mobilizer, no doubt he will work in synergy with the new executives and party stalwarts to enhance the victory of the party.

Our Correspondent who monitored the congress said accreditation which began at about 11:59 am at the State Party’s Secretariat situated along the Mbiama/Yenagoa Road, witnessed the presence of major stakeholders led by the Senator Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, two members of Federal House of Representative, Hon Isreal Sunny-Goli and Hon Preye Influence Oseke.


The accreditation which is being done by the Chairman of the Bayelsa State APC Congress Committee, DCP Adejo Aurelius Yusuf (rtd), which was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) described the conduct of the state congress as a family affair and was peaceful.

Our Correspondent reports that the accreditation is being done alphabetically starting with the Brass Local Government Area statutory delegates, followed with Ekeremor, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw and Yenagoa, adding that the atmosphere is peaceful and calm as delegates arrived the venue in their numbers.and security agents are on ground to maintain peace and order.

The newly elected State Chairman of APC, Dr (Barr) Dennis Otiotio, in his acceptance speech, show gratitude to the people and accepted the mandate given him to serve, adding that the congress is peaceful.

Otiotio stated that what was witnessed at the congress is a symbol that APC has come to teach other parties and the PDP how to conduct credible elections. He express thanks to the delegates for reposing the confidence in him to be chairman, and he won’t disappoint them.

Also in his remarks, Hon. Isreal Sunny-Goli, noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress will make the party stronger than before, adding that the party is battle ready to sweep the poll in the next elections in the state.

“And I believe that with the people behind us, the APC will win the 2023 elections. In Bayelsa, we worked hard in 2019 and we won. Now that it later became a PDP state, we will not stop at winning the Governorship election in 2023,” he averred.

The member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Preye Oseke, in his comment, applauded the conduct of the exercise, predicting that the emergence of Dr (Barr) Otiotio as the Chairman of the party will lead to the emergence of a new and revitalized APC.

Others elected at the Bayelsa State delegate election congress are Hon Francis Koloko as deputy chairman, Hon Ebipadei Fekoweimo as secretary, Hon Preye Agama as Youth Leader, Mrs Ebiere Akpobasa Akpobasa as Woman Leader, Hon Ogisaman Orubo Victor as Financial Secretary and Hon Doifie Buokoribo as Publicity Secretary.

Also elected into the State Executive of the party are include; Hon Ebimene Emmanuel as Treasurer, Hon Tokpo Coronation as Organizing Secretary, Barr Efieseimokumo Bipeledei as Legal Adviser, Hon Ebikinei Tekerebo -as Auditor, Hon Abi Morris Bako as Welfare Secretary and Comr Austin B Jonah as leader, Physically Challenged Persons,
