2023: Osinbajo is better to succeed Buhari devoid of Jonathan - Group

Ahead of the ALL Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary beginning from Monday, June 6, a development-oriented organization under the auspices of Coalition for Dynamic Change and National Orientation (CODYCNO), says Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is better to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari if Former President Goodluck Jonathan is no longer in the 2023 presidential race.

Speaking with newsmen in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa state, the National Coordinator of the body, Comrade Inegbagha Majesty recalled that few weeks ago, some pastoralists, farmers, traders and artisans from the Northern part of the country contributed various amounts to pick the Presidential nomination form for former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the race.

 According to him, their choice for former President Jonathan was predicated on numbers of factors aimed at moving the nation forward, noting that the incumbent, President Buhari has been doing his best within the past years in office.

He said the Coalition of Northern Groups that purchased the forms explained that after nearly eight years Dr Jonathan left the Presidency, they discovered that he had the masses’ interest at heart. They named the Almajirai Schools, health facilities as well as infrastructure projects started by the former President as what they need.

This is added to the fact that Nigerian’s living conditions is better at that period than now that life is more miserable everyday as many are in starvation. 

CODYCNO boss, who extolled the exceptional leadership qualities of Dr Jonathan, said emphatically without mincing words that Vice President Osinbajo with his educational background, rare wisdom and humility in the service to the nation would discharge his duties more creditably towards addressing the myriad of socio-economic, political, technological and cultural challenges bedeviling the nation if given the mandate.

 Inegbagha stressed the need for APC delegates to elect a presidential standard bearer that would carry all Nigerians and all ethnic groups along devoid of tribal sentiments, greed and egocentric tendencies that would aggravate the state of the nation than the current economic hardship, inflation, abject poverty, insecurity, endemic corruption and underdevelopment prevailing in the nation

Noting that peace and unity are prerequisite for development, he equally pointed out that even the international community, including France, Canada, Italy Britain, Germany, US, and Spain were also said to be worried by the rhetoric trailing the build up to the 2023 General Elections.

He affirmed that election of a good leader will allay the fear of the G8 develop countries, said to have expressed concerned that unless the 2023 Presidential poll produces a peacemaker and nationalist, Nigeria could implode, giving rise to more refugee problems in Africa, thereby heightening illegal migration.

The organisation boss lauded President Buhari on his determination to pick a southern president as his successor, stressing the need to elect someone who would give the Nigerian masses a sense of victory and confidence under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during next year’s general election.

 Inegbagha said the is an eloquent testimony of his desire to preserve the corporate existence and stability of Nigerian.

Inegbagha who described Vice President Osinbajo as a man embodied with high level of patriotism, energetic and resourcefulness, thanked the Northern governors serving on the platform of All Progressives Congress for enjoining President Muhammadu Buhari to pick his successor from the Southern part of the country.
