Bayelsa Assembly passes Isaac Boro Memorial Day Bill into Law

A Bill seeking to provide Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro and other Heroes Memorial Day has been read for the Third Time and passed into Law on Tuesday plenary of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The passage of the Bill was sequel to the unanimous adoption of the report of the joint House Committee on Culture and Tourism; and Ijaw National Affairs at the Committee of the Whole presided by the Rt. Hon Speaker, Abraham Ingobere as Chairman.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo moved a motion for consideration of the joint House Committee report on Culture and Tourism; and Ijaw National Affairs on the Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro and other Heroes Memorial Day Bill (BYSHA/6B.33).2022, which was seconded by Hon (Barr) Tare Porri, member representing Ekeremor Constituency One in the House.

 Given the report of the Committee of the Whole before passage, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Ingobere, said, the committee report on the Bill got the legislative satisfaction of members as there was no comment on the report presented for consideration.

In his remark, shortly after its passage, the Speaker lauded members for the gesture, and attributed the prompt passage of the Bill as a result of their legislative experience, noting the active efforts of the late Heroes in the struggle for the emancipation of the people of Niger Delta from perceived neglect, oppression, injustice and under-development.
