Bayelsa Assembly Eulogises Late Pioneer Clerk At Valedictary Session

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly on Thursday  held a Valedictory Session in honour of its pioneer Clerk of the House , late Sir (Chief) Dr. Ebiegberi Domo-Spiff  Jonathan Esq, Mni  who died on  December 11, last year.

Addressing the session, the Speaker, Rt. Hon (High Chief ) Abraham Ingobere, said the Valedictary Session was held as a mark of respect and last honour for the demise who served as pioneer Clerk of the House.

The  Speaker described the deceased  as a dedicated public servant whose legacy and contributions would stand the test of time, and expressed sadness over his death.

He on behalf of the Assembly condoled the bereaved family.

In his remarks, the Leader of the House and member representing Southern Ijaw Constituency II, Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou-Obolo PhD, extolled the sterling qualities of the late Clerk, asserting that testimonies from his former colleagues confirmed that Domo-Spiff laid a solid foundation for succeeding Clerks of the Assembly, and prayed God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Also, the member representing Brass Constituency I, Hon. Dr. Daniel Charles described the deceased as a father, legal luminary, erudite scholar, peaceful personality, and a perfect gentleman who played a key role in the foundational stage of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. 

He maintained that late Chief Domo-Spiff was a great leader who promoted peace both in the office and in the community, stressing that his legacies are worthy of emulation.

In their separate speeches, the former Clerks of the House, Elder Peter Koru George, Mr. Timiye Nicodemus Aaron, Mr. Edward Owodogu, and Chief D.J. Erewari Oruwari, praised the virtues of the deceased, describing him as a pace-setter and gentleman who created an enabling environment for staff to thrive.

 They averred that the late Chief Domo-Spiff encouraged staff development and gave them the freedom to improve themselves; a rare quality admired by many.

They described him as diligent, thorough, and always willing to encourage, brainstorming, adding that he brought his wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of his duties. 

They expressed appreciation to the Speaker and other lawmakers for the opportunity to pay their last respects and admonished the family to take solace in God.

In his response on behalf of the family, a brother of the deceased, Sir Chief Henry Domo-Spiff, appreciated the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly for the love and support shown to the family during this moment of grief.

 He also commended the leadership of the House for its continued support to the Prosperity Administration.
