BYSG Committed To Technology Driven Education

The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, has reiterated the government’s commitment to embracing integrated technological programmes in the teaching and learning process in order to improve the quality of education in the state.

Dr. Emelah made this known while receiving a proposal in his office from E-DRILLS, a technology-driven educational firm, for the establishment of Computer Cluster Training Centres in secondary schools across the state.

The Commissioner noted that the proposal aligns with the state government’s ongoing efforts to equip secondary schools with modern computer facilities that will enable students to effectively prepare for computer-based examinations, in line with the Federal Government’s directive for the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) through Computer-Based Testing (CBT).

Dr. Emelah assured that the Ministry would carefully review the proposal and fine-tune its workability, adding that when implemented, the project would form part of the government’s efforts to promote digital literacy and strengthen technological development in the education sector.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Vincent Ivoke, explained that the E-Drills Computer Cluster Centres would help improve students’ performance and confidence in e-WAEC examinations, reduce examination anxiety, and adequately prepare them for the evolving global technological environment.
