Dr Sidi unfolds his motive for boycotting APC's primaries in Bayelsa

A Chieftain and founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Dr Godwin Dressman Sidi has unfolded his motive for boycotting the ongoing party's primaries in the state.

Dr  Sidi  who hails from Amassoma ward 11 in Southern Ijaw local government area of the state disclosed this on Monday, in Yenagoa while answering questions with newsmen.

The APC Chieftain attributed his boycott to a number of issues causing problems and disaffection in the party, including the pending Court case he dragged the party to a Federal High Court in Abuja.

He called for inclusion of the pioneer members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state before the defection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members into the party, along in piloting the  affairs of the party in the state.

He noted that owing to the  non-inclusion of members, occasioned with unfair treatment and lack of equity in piloting the affairs of the party in the state, many founding members have been frustrated and sidelined.

He reiterated emphatically that the long-standing members of the party are not fully integrated into the affairs of government.

He expressed concern over what he described as the continued exclusion of pioneer members of the APC in the state from key decision-making processes, amongst others.

He cautioned" Whatever way they are going about the party they should know that there are people that suffered as far as APC is concern in the state.

And if those people are not carry along and they want to do whatever they want to do they should go ahead."

 On what would be the effects of not carrying the founders along, Dr Sidi said " Well, the effect is, it is going to disorganize the party. When there is chaos in any house; when there is disharmony in any house you know what the effect means. There will be fighting, disagreement and also, it will affect the general election. Because people must represent the party. And when there is disaffection within the party structure at the state, then the party will move nowhere."

It would be recalled that Dr. Sidi filed a suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging what he described as undemocratic conduct during the APC state congress held on March 3, 2026, at the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Yenagoa.

In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/485/2026, the plaintiff is seeking redress over what he termed a violation of his fundamental rights in the conduct of the congress that produced the current state executive.

He also noted that there is an existing case before the same court concerning the process that led to the emergence of the Ogoriba-led executive, which he described as unlawful.
