Ayakoro Community In Bayelsa Unanimously Elects New Paramount Ruler, Deputy

The Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, on Saturday unanimously elected Chief (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as its new Paramount Ruler, Daufa VI.

The Community also elected Chief Micah Itesi, the Head of  Nathan's Compound as its new Deputy Paramount Ruler.

Their installation was sequel to the victory they attained and announced by the Chairman of Ayakoro Electoral Committee for Obanema/ Opalima Obanema election, Sir (Chief) Bright  Nathan Ogbuku conducted on June 13, 2026 at His Royal Majesty Late King P. I. Nathan Square, Ayakoro, and issuance of their certificates of return.

Performing the installation ceremony, the Chairman of Ayakoro Council of Chiefs, Chief Puraziba Clever Akpoti said their election and installation was in compliance of Ayakoro Community Constitution which states that when a Paramount Ruler die, a new one should be elected in six months.

He recalled that the Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community, late His Royal Highness Righteous Inegbagha died on September 5, 2025 and was buried on 12th December.

Speaking during the event,  a representative of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Mateikumo ThankGod, a Senior Community Development Officer commended the people  of the community for the orderly manner they conducted themselves during the election, and promised to issue the "State  Government Certificate of Recognition" to the statutory Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community.

In his acceptance speech, His Royal Highness (Dr) Samuel Ogbuku expressed profound appreciation to the people of the community for unanimously electing him as their Paramount Ruler.

 The royal father described his elevation as a profound honour that goes beyond titles, public office and personal recognition.

According to him, the gesture by the people of Ayakoro is a reflection of their appreciation for years of sacrifice, dedication and unwavering commitment to the progress and wellbeing of the community as well as the confidence reposed in him.

He noted that the confidence reposed in him by the people serves as a reminder that selfless service and genuine concern for humanity never go unnoticed.

Ogbuku pledged to discharge his responsibilities with humility, integrity and an unwavering commitment to the collective aspirations of the people, while seeking divine wisdom and guidance in the course of his reign.

He expressed confidence that under his leadership, Ayakoro Community would witness a new era characterised by peace, unity, dignity and sustainable development.

"May God grant us wisdom, patience, courage and clarity. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity and greater progress to Ayakoro Community," he declared.

He assured that he would work harmoniously with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous and united community for present and future generations.

It is enthusiastic to note that his ascension has continued to attract goodwill messages from indigenes and admirers, many of whom believe that the combination of his traditional responsibility and vast administrative experience will further strengthen the fortunes of Ayakoro Community.

With the emergence of Daufa VI Ayakoro appears set to embark on a fresh journey anchored on unity, peace and shared prosperity.

Dignitaries from all walks of life were present to observe the event including the traditional rulers and journalists.
