NCDMB Commences Human Capacity Development training Programme on Underwater welding in Warri, Delta

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) today commenced the Human Capacity Development (HCD) Training Programme on Underwater Welding and Commercial Diving for the 14.4km sectional replacement of pipeline infrastructure under OML 30 in Warri, Delta State.

Speaking at the kick-off ceremony, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe (FNSE, FIPS), represented by the General Manager, Human Capacity Development, Mrs. Alexis Emelle, described the programme as a strategic investment in developing indigenous capacity for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

She noted that the 12-month programme, comprising six months of intensive classroom training and six months of on-the-job training, will equip 15 young Nigerians with world-class skills in underwater welding and commercial diving, critical competencies for maintaining the safety, sustainability and profitability of Nigeria’s offshore energy infrastructure.

Reaffirming the Board’s commitment to deepening Nigerian participation in the industry, Mrs. Emelle stated that the initiative aligns with the Nigerian Content 10-Year Strategic Roadmap and underscores NCDMB’s mandate to build local capacity, create opportunities for Nigerians and drive national economic growth.

She commended Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) for partnering with the Board to develop Nigerian talent and urged the trainees to approach the programme with discipline, dedication and a commitment to excellence.

Representatives from Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, Joemarine Institute Of Nautical Studies and Research, Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited and the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, also lauded NCDMB for the initiative and encouraged participants to maximise the opportunity and prepare for the career prospects ahead.

The NCDMB delegation was led by the General Manager, Human Capital Development, Mrs. Alexis Emelle and included Mr. Lotana Onyekachi, Senior Supervisor, Capacity Building Directorate; Mr. Henry Alogidi of the Corporate Communications Division of the Board.
