King Simeon Confers Prestigious Chieftaincy Title On Dankaba

A renowned indigene of Swali Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bàyelsa State, Jonah Alexander Dankaba, on Saturday, has been conferred with prestigious Chieftaincy Title " OYUNGEGE 1 OF ISISIBO-ATISSA"  by His Royal Highness (Dr) Godwill A. Simeon, Ebeni-Sisibo, Atissa Kingdom in recognition of his wise and selfless contributions to the development of the area.

In a chat with Global Overseer at Yenagoa - Ovom shortly after his conferment, Chief Dankaba said, he never knew that what he has been doing in the area to enhance the socio-economic wellbeing of the people is seen by the Atissa council of Chiefs for the past ten years.

The title"  OYUNGEGE Clever man, he said will spur him to greater height and  encourage him to do more.

"I'm very grateful for the honour done me. I never knew that the Atissa Council of Chiefs are watching me for over ten years.

I didn't lobby for Chieftaincy Title and conferment. I will support my people. I will always stand by my people. I will stand for the king. I will do all I can to draw development to the area," he stated.

Speaking as Guest of Honour, the Executive Chairman of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Council,  Hon Target Isaiah Segibo  enjoined community leaders to protect government properties sited at their domain in order to attract more dividends of democracy.

Hon Target Segibo made the call during the  conferment of chieftaincy titles on  some illustrious  sons and  daughter of Sisibo Clan  organised by  His  Royal Highness (Dr) Godwill A.Simoen, the Ebeni-Sisibo of Sisibo Clan in Atissa Kingdom of Yenagoa local government area of Bàyelsa state.

The LG boss commended the people -oriented leadership of the Godwill Simeon headed administration geared towards enhancing the socio-economic and cultural wellbeing of the people, and highlighted the role traditional rulers, Chiefs and Community Leaders could play to protect and preserving them.

He commended His Royal Highness(Dr) Godwill Simeon on his pragmatic leadership and called on the recipients to be exemplary in their conduct and discharge of their duties.

He noted that society will be watching to see if their honour is worthwhile, stating that Godwill has over the years demonstrated good leadership qualities as an astute monarch with a courageous character.

He promised to do what is humanly possible in identifying with Chief Simeon and the recipients to realize set goals while calling on the people to work closely with the traditional rulers.

Also speaking, the Mayor of the Yenagoa City Council, Hon Bulodiseye Ndiwari promised to build an event center for the Ovom community as part of his administration's commitment to developing the environment.

He lauded the Royal Father and his Council of Chiefs for the kind gesture, and urged them to continue to be alive to their statutory responsibilities in the promotion of peace, unity, security  of lives and property as well as good neighborliness. 

Conferring the Chieftaincy Titles on the recipients in recognition of their exceptional performance and achievements, the Ebeni-Sisibo, Atissa Kingdom, Godwill Simeon, charged them to unite and work with their Paramount Rulers and Chiefs in their respective communities to promote peace and love as well as in the maintenance of law and order.

He reminded them the task ahead of them, pointing out that traditional rulers appointed or elected according to local customs and traditions are expected to uphold the cultural values, mediating conflicts and mobilizing and channeling community resources towards developing the communities.

The Royal Father expressed profound appreciation for  all those who came from far and near to grace the event.
