Ogoriba made the call on Tuesday when the executives of the Bayelsa Federated Newspaper Publishers Association (BAFENPA), the umbrella body of newspaper publishers in the state, paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Yenagoa.
He acknowledged the crucial role of journalists in disseminating information about the ideals and philosophy of the party, expressing his readiness to collaborate with the media in promoting societal development and strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The APC chairman expressed confidence in the party's electoral prospects, citing its strong presence across the nooks and crannies of the state as a major advantage.
He commended newspaper publishers in Bayelsa for their contributions to society, describing the media as an indispensable instrument for development and nation-building.
Speaking on his leadership priorities, Ogoriba said he had worked assiduously since assuming office to unite members of the party, stressing that unity remained fundamental to the success of any political organisation.
He called for reconciliation, cooperation and mutual understanding among party members, emphasising that collective interests must take precedence over personal ambitions if the APC was to achieve its political objectives.
According to him, his experiences of winning and losing elections have taught him valuable lessons about the challenges of politics and the importance of maintaining unity despite internal differences.
He noted that bringing members together remained a major priority, warning that internal divisions and personal interests could undermine the party's progress if left unresolved.
“My vision is to bring the party together and ensure that our people work in unity. That is the only way we can move forward,” he said.
Ogoriba also underscored the importance of active participation by party members in securing electoral victory, urging them to intensify their efforts and work collectively towards an overwhelming performance in the 2027 general elections.
He maintained that reconciliation and mutual understanding were essential to building a stronger political organisation capable of pursuing shared aspirations.
The chairman expressed optimism that sustained cooperation among party stakeholders would provide a solid foundation for achieving the APC's political objectives in the state.
Earlier, the chairman of BAFENPA, Chief Jones, said the visit was intended to familiarise Ogoriba with the association's programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting free and fair elections in Bayelsa State.
The association also formally congratulated Ogoriba on his emergence as the APC state chairman and wished him success in his political endeavours.
