The NDC State Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari Misau, disclosed this during an exclusive interview with Global Overseer Newspaper on Monday, attributing the party’s growing appeal to increasing public support and the expansion of its grassroots structures across the state.
Misau said the party continued to enjoy support from residents despite alleged efforts by other political parties to persuade its members to defect.
He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to its political ambitions in Bauchi State, expressing optimism that the party could achieve its electoral objectives if adequate funds were available to support its activities.
The chairman disclosed that the party had expanded its political structures across the state, including communities with eligible voters, as part of efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the elections.
He expressed confidence that the growing structures would enhance the party’s chances in the 2027 general elections.
Misau urged residents of Bauchi State and Nigerians at large to assess candidates based on their knowledge, experience, vision and leadership capacity before making their electoral choices.
According to him, Nigeria needs leaders with clearly defined development priorities and a strong commitment to addressing economic challenges, promoting sustainable growth and improving the living conditions of citizens.
He maintained that purposeful leadership and effective governance remained essential to achieving the development aspirations of Bauchi State and the country.
The NDC chairman also called on the media to uphold professionalism, accuracy, fairness and balance in reporting political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged journalists and media organisations to provide candidates and political parties with fair opportunities to present their programmes, policies and electoral promises to the public, irrespective of their political affiliations.
According to him, responsible media coverage would enable voters to access credible information and make informed decisions during the electoral process.
“My message is that the media should perform its duties responsibly and ensure that political activities and candidates receive fair and balanced coverage,” Misau said.
He expressed hope that cooperation among political parties, the media, electoral authorities and the electorate would contribute to peaceful elections and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
