Bayelsa Assembly passes 3 bills for second reading

  Three bills have passed through second reading in today’s plenary session of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Konbowei Friday Benson after intensive debate by members at the floor of the House.

  The Bills are the Public Service Reforms and Documentation Centre Bill (BYSHA/5B.49), 2018, Community Safety Corp Bill (BYSHA/5B.50), 2018 and the Media Corporation Bill (BYSHA/5B.51). 2018.
 Moving the motion for the second reading of the bills, the Leader of the House and member representing Sagbama Constituency 1, Hon Peter Pereotubo Akpe Ph.D highlighted the significant of the bills to the state and the people and called for unanimous support by members.
  The motions were seconded by Hon Giftson Munanalayefa(Ogbia Constituency II), Hon Ebiye Tarabina (Kolokuma/Opokuma Constituency II) and Hon. Omonibeke Kemelayefa (Ekeremor Constituency II).
  The bills are now committed to the House Committee on Establishment and Public Service, House Committee on Security and the House Committee on Information to report back to the House in two weeks time.
   The House today also read a bill on New Yenagoa City Development Bill (BYSHA/5B.52), 2018 presented by the Leader of the House Hon. Peter Pereotubo Akpe for first reading.
  Also, the House Committee on Education has presented two reports to the House by its Education Committee Chairman Hon. Gentle Emelah.
  The reports are on Teaching of Indigenous Language Bill (BYSHA/5B.27), 2017 and Special Matters Court (Education) Bill(BYSHA/5B.45). 2018.
