Bayelsa Governorship Aspirant affirms his victory Pledges to pay backlog of gratuities, review Igodo’s panel report

   A frontline politician and the gubernatorial aspirant of the Save Nigeria Congress (SNC), His Highness Righteous Okpoebi Gwegwe (JP), the Ogiligba I of Atissa Kingdom has affirmed his victory in the forthcoming November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa state provided the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conduct free and fair election.

  Chief Gwegwe dropped the hint in a chat with newsmen during this year’s celebration of Uge Adiafaa cultural festival at Yenaka in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.

  According to him, he is fully on ground but he will swing into full action immediately after the festival to meet with his supporters at the nooks and crannies of the state to actualize his dream of emerging the next governor of the state.

   “In fact, the election is already over; I’m the governor to be provided INEC  conduct free and fair election in the state”, he boasted.

  On his development agenda when he emerges as the Governor, Chief Gwegwe promised to embark on development programmes that would have direct impact on the lives of the people.

  As a grassroot politician the SNC Guber Aspirant asserted unconditionally that he is aware of all the challenges facing the people and the state, adding that his administration would give priority to all the sectors of the state economy to actual the dreams of the founding fathers of the state.

  He reiterated the determination of his administration to give priority attention to workers welfare, affirming that all backlog of gratuities owed retirees in the state would be paid to alleviate their predicaments.

  Gwegwe also lamented that most retirees after leaving the service could not afford to build house, pay their children school fees and live a comfortable life as a result of government less desire to pay their gratuities.

Noting that Bayelsa is a civil servants state, he acknowledged that when workers are comfortable everybody is happy. He assured to repeal Igodo panel report which he described as oppressive to civil servants.

  According to him civil servants in the state must be place on their right steps and grade levels in line with the civil service rules and regulations as practices in other states of the federation.

  He noted with regret that even civil servants who worked for 20years and above with grade levels 8 step 2 as entry point into the civil service and promoted to grade level 15 or 16 were wrongly place on grade level 15 or 16 step 2.

   This, phenomenon he said is wrong and his administration must correct it and place workers on their right salary grade levels and steps to give them sense of belong.

   “The name of this Government is called Restoration Government.” If I’m voted in as the Governor of this state, I’m going to restore every civil servants grade level and steps erroneously or deliberately place to the proper grade level and step as they were as from 2016.

After 2016 things become worse to civil servants in the state. I will pay promotion arrears. My own government is not going to be like that. This is a civil servants state. If the civil servants are happy, the state is growing”, he stated.

  On infrastructure, he assured to complete work on Agge deep sea port to generate internal revenue for the state. He said his administration would construct motorable roads to link all communities in the rural areas to the state capital.

   He pledged to construct Nembe –Brass road noting that when constructed to Brass terminal it will serve as a tourist centre to the people. The SNC flagbearer to be also expressed his desire to construct Oporoma- Ukubie road and other roads in Southern Ijaw the largest local government area of the state.

 Chief Gwegwe assured to uplift the present position of the state capital to a befitting status that will reflect its name as “Glory of All Lands”.

  He averred that his regime will ensure constant electricity supply and provision of potable drink water in all parts of the state to uplift the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.

   “I’m the man that is going to take Bayelsa state to the next level. I’m going to stop the suffering of civil servants, market women, youths, retirees, traditional rulers and everybody in the state”, he said.
