1996.

Mr Fafi who made his feelings known while exchanging
views with newsmen in his office, in Yenagoa, said that those who have governed
the state were not prepared to serve the people to provide the desired
dividends of democracy to make life meaningful for the people.
He also lamented that since the creation of the
state the people have not enjoyed good governance, adding that that was why he
believed that as a former state chairman of a political party, in the ongoing
political dispensation the people must work for a trusted and credible person
that would ensure that the dividends of democracy is felt by every citizen of
the state.
Mr Fafi described Engr Aganaba, the All Progressives
Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the November 16 governorship election
in the state as the best candidate both for PDP and APC that would be able to
develop the state when given the mandate.

Answering questions on what he knows about Engr
Preye Aganaba, Mr Fafi said “Well, before I even say what I can tell you about
Engr Preye Aganaba, let me also look at
Bayelsa state generally and also look at the fact that we have not enjoy good
governance since the creation of Bayelsa state. It has been unfortunate we had
governors who are not prepared for the job.
And as former state chairman of a political party, I
believe and I decided that this time we must work for somebody that we can
trust to ensure that dividends of democracy is felt by every citizen of the
state.
Engr Preye Aganaba is a young man who I know very
well, as far as I’m concern and honestly he is the best candidate both for PDP
and APC that would be able to develop this state. Because he has the will to do
that,” he stated.
On why he wants Engr Aganaba to rule the state on February
14, 2020, Mr Fafi said “The perspective
we are looking at is not even to rule, to serve. And that is the misconception
a lot of Governors had had. You are coming to serve. You are using the common
wealth of the people to serve because there must be a leader who will pilot the
affairs of the state. And so, he is coming to serve.
And to serve means you become a servant to the
people to look at the general welfare of the people. You are coming to manage
the resources of the state, the common wealth of the people for their own good.
The resources coming to the state is owned by the people. It is not one’s own
personal estate,” he stated.
On Engr Aganaba’s chances to emerge the APC flag
bearer and subsequently win the November 16 governorship election in the state,
the APC immediate past state chairman averred that the rare mammoth crowd of
supporters present at his campaign office daily comparing to other campaign
offices was an eloquent testimony of his victory.
He added that his candidature has nothing to do with
APC of Bayelsa state, stressing that Bayelsa state generally from both APC and
PDP want a fresh candidate.
“That is why we called Aya-Uge here (A new
celebration). We want a new base in our lives as a state. We want people from
both PDP and APC to come together. We are no longer just of party like. Preye Aganaba
represents the future of Bayelsa state. And I can assure you that once the
ticket is given or once we win the primaries, you will see more than half
support base will move from PDP to support him”.
He therefore enjoined the delegates to vote overwhelmingly
for Engr Preye Aganaba for APC governorship flagbearer for November 16, 2019
gubernatorial election, noting that he would enthrone good governance in the
state to uplift the socio-economic well being of the people.
Mr Fafi who was optimistic of Engr Aganaba’s victory
at the polls, said that on inception to office next year, the administration
would first address the issue of insecurity in the state to safeguard lives and
property for meaningful development to take place.
According to him education, skill acquisition
programmes and industrialization of the state would be given a pride of place
in the administration to enhance mass employment of school leavers and the
unemployed in the state to boost their livelihood.
This, he added would curb the incessant reported
cases of cultism and other social vices and prepared a better future for the
youths.
Fafi also asserted that the administration would
embark on provision of basic infrastructures to fast track the desired
development in the state.
“We believe that Southern Ijaw should be connected
by road. And it is possible. It is just the will, bringing in industries are
simple; counterpart funding we will do it.
And there would be industries to employ the teeming
school leavers we have that are jobless for now”
On its preparation to actualize its victory at the
poll, he said Engr Preye Aganaba campaign team have put everything in place to
achieve it well deserved victory.
“We are fully set. Victory is just by a few days
away from now. By God’s grace we have the victory, and then we deliver the
state to APC”, he added.
