PDP leading Guber Aspirant unveils his manifesto •Pledges to carry every Bayelsan along

One of the major contenders and the leading
gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
for the September 3 governorship primaries in Bayelsa state, Mr. Tobin
Ziperedein Igiri has unveiled his manifesto to govern the state.

Making the disclosure in a chat with
journalists shortly after the formal commissioning of his campaign office at
Okutukutu along Isaac Boro Expressway in Yenagoa, Mr Igiri said, he would work assiduously
to transform the state to meet the yearnings and the aspirations of the people
to uplift their socio-economic wellbeing.

According to him he knows the basic
socio-economic and political challenges confronting the people of the state and
assured that his administration would carry all Bayelsans – men, women, youths,
opinion leaders and the party stalwarts along in line with the dreams of the
founding fathers of the state.
Mr Igiri, an accomplished Geologist who was a
classroom teacher before his elevation to work with Cheveron over 19years ago
in Lagos, said he would accord the welfare of civil servants in the state a pride
of place in his administration when given the mandate.
According to him all issues affecting workers
in the state such as payment of promotion arrears, promotions and other
entitlements due them will be given prompt attention to ameliorate their
plight.
On inception to office, he said he would
create a Ministry of Petroleum Resources that would develop the downstream
sector, adding that Mega Filling Stations would be build to make petroleum
products affordable to the people according to the government approved pump
price per litre.
The Guber aspirant also pledged to build a
refinery to take the comparative advantage of the state, and encourage local
and foreign investment to build gas stations, noting that oil and gas was
transiting from oil into gas.
This, he said was the reason Liquidified
Natural Gas (LNGS) are springing up every day, stressing that if we don’t toe
the line what we lost in oil we also lose in gas.
He described the present state of Bayelsa as
not the Bayelsa state of our dream, noting that those who have governed the
state have tried their best particularly the incumbent Governor whom he said
has done a lot.
Mr. Igiri called on the PDP delegates to
strengthen their resolved to accord him the ticket of the party to enable him
start where Governor Dickson will stop to accelerate the pace of development in
the state to give the people a new lease of life.
The guber aspirant who has a vision to
improve the various sectors of the state, also appealed to people of the state
to exercise some level of sacrifice as his administration would expand the
roads in the state capital and install modern traffic facilities. Igiri assured
to bring in new technology to convert salt water to drinkable water.
He pledged to also promote the tourism
potentials in the state by constructing a beach road across the coastal areas
of the state.
Igiri stated categorically that he would
prefer to be a party member but the not leader when he emerge as governor of
the state in order to avoid distraction as he would be focused on the development
of the state.
Dignitaries from different walks of life
witnessed the commissioning ceremony including Co-contestants like Senator
Douye Diri, Ambassandor Godknows Boladei Igali and Hon Fred Agbedi amongst
others.
