Bayelsa AG Extols exceptional performance of Selewari Welfare Association outgoing EXCO • Egemuze elected as new Chairman

   The Accountant-General of Bayelsa State, Mr Daniel Eniekezimene has lauded the exceptional performance of the outgoing Executive of the Selewari Members Welfare Association led by Prince Tenbebelakumo Omotete Amgbare for its selfless service gear towards improving the wellbeing of its members.

Mr. Eniekezimene who made the commendation in Yenagoa during the election of its new executive to pilot the affairs of the association for the next 2years, further extolled them for the indelible legacies left behind in their tenure.

The Accountant General who spoke through the Director of Administration in the State Treasury, Mr Germany Pinaowei Ebikebina charged the incoming EXCO to emulate and sustain them in line with the objectives of the organization.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Electoral Committee, Mrs Ayo Yowa had said that eleven aspirants picked the nomination forms to contest for the seven positions but one was disqualified, stating that the position of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Assistant Secretary and the Financial Secretary were returned unopposed.

She affirmed that elections would be conduct for the positions of the Secretary, Treasury and Public Organizing Secretary of the association.

At the end of voting and collation of results, the Electoral Committee handed over the results to the Accountant General of the state to announce.

The result as announced has Mr Justin Bennier Egemuze, a renowned Accountant in the Bayelsa state Government returned unopposed as Chairman of the association who will pilot the affairs of the union for the next 2years.

Others are Mr Jackson ThankGod-Vice Chairman, Mrs Tebepah Tariarau Blessing -Assistant Secretary and Mr Burutola Gesiye who is to serve as Financial Secretary.

 On the position of the Secretary which was keenly contested for, Mr Olei Condone Tene-kamalu who defeated his opponent with 133 votes was declared the winner. His co-contestant for the position, Mr Perewari Ebilaowei got 86 votes.

Also, Mrs Berezi Miebi won the position of the Treasurer with a total of 154 votes to defeat Mrs Ofoni Doubra who got 64 votes.

And lastly, Mr Keme-Ebiareh Germany was also declared winner of the position of the Public Organizing Secretary with a total score of 111 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Samuel Azibola Benjamin who polled 101 votes.

Administering the oath of office for the new Executive Members, the State Accountant General, Mr Daniel Eniekezimene described the election as free and fair.

He lauded the Electoral Committee for the gesture and expressed appreciation for the members on the orderly manner they conducted themselves during the election.

Speaking is the Representative of the Bayelsa State Accountant General, Mr Germany Pinaowei Ebikebina the  Director of Administration in the State Treasury.

In his valedictory speech, the outgoing Chairman, Prince Amgbare urged the new Executive Members to work as a team to accelerate the pace of the development of the union to better the lots of its members.

Prince Amgbare further reminded them the need to adhere strictly to the fundamental objective of the association which bothered on to care for one another.

“The basic objective of this association is to care for one another. I’m telling the new EXCO members to have this in their mind. The first objective is love for one another. And as you care for one another you serve. Take everybody as your friend. Take everybody as your brother. That is the basic aim of this association.”

The outgoing chairman who was happy for the calibre of persons that constitute the new EXCO, further advised them to work collectively in case of any innovation that would move the organization forward.

He used the forum to express his profound appreciation to the State Accountant General, Mr Daniel Eniekezimene, the Director of Treasury, Mr Tokoni Ifidi, the Director of Administration, Mr Germany Pinaowei Ebikebina and other Senior Directors and Staff for their unwavering support and cooperation which had made his administration attains a great success.

Prince Amgbare also paid a glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the association particularly Mrs Ama Clinton, Mr Tonye Apiri, Mr Oyakimiagha and Bestman Azebi (retired) who formed the association to cater for the welfare of members during burials, noting that the organization had grown beyond that objective; and now rendering other essential services to members as exemplified by what member are seeing today.

He applauded those who had contested and lose, but urged them to see themselves as members of the new EXCO by contributing genuine ideas to move the body onward.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of Selewari Members Welfare Association, Mr Justin Bennier Egemuze has pledged to work assiduously, selflessly and collectively with the EXCO members to actualize the statutory aims and the objectives of the association.

He expressed his determination to emulate the footsteps of his predecessor, Prince Amgbare whom he described as a selfless, humble, experience and vibrant leader of outstanding leadership qualities who carry everybody along in organization to leave behind enduring legacies.

Mr. Egemuze pointed out that under the administration of Prince Amgbare as Chairman, he took him his Vice Chairman as Co-Chairman with him while all other members of the EXCO as Chairman, stressing that they worked collectively to achieve the set goals of the association.

He maintained that under his leadership he would sustain the tempo by ensuring that they work together in all the union’s activities to achieve better results.

“For everything we want to do it must be collective. If you have an idea, bring it to the table. Even members, provided you are a Treasury Staff you have every right to tell us what we are expected to do. It will be brought to the table and we see how we achieve it,” he maintained.

He promised to continue in consultation at every point with the Senior Directors in the State Treasury for better administration of the policies and the programmes of the association.

Egemuge expressed gratitude to the Chairman and members of the Electoral Committee for conducting transparent, free and fair election, and called for the sustenance of the same spirit so that the Treasury Family would grow from strength to strength.

In a chat with Global Overseer Editor shortly after his election, Mr Egemuze who served in the last dispensation as Vice Chairman of the organization expressed pleasure for his elevation to the present enviable position.

“I feel elated because it demonstrates trust; but for a group to return you unopposed it speaks volume of what they see you. So, I’m so happy,” he said.

On his development agenda, Mr Egemuze said, he had worked with the immediate past Chairman, Prince Amgbare and learnt a lot from him to excel. He assured to build on all that he had achieved to meet the aspiration of members.

The chairman called for the cooperation and support of all Treasury members with the new Executive to enable them do extremely well in the discharge of their duties.

It would be recalled that the unanimous choice of Mr Justin Bennier Egemuze to succeed the outgone Chairman was not unconnected with his wealth of experience and pedigree to pilot the affair of the organization for the betterment of all.

Our finding on his background demonstrates that he is a man of towering figure who accomplished many great things.

In fact, his impact to societal development and humanity was far-reaching and profound. He is an astute administrator with extraordinary feat, courage, consummate leadership, loyalty and uncommon commitment as well as valour.

As a pacesetter and man of openhandedness, accessibility, embodied with the pedigree to steer the ship of the association no doubt with the support of the members his administration would record great achievement.
