Group urges FG, WAEC to conduct WASSC Examination in August

A renowned socio-economic and development-oriented organization in the Niger Delta Region under the aegis of Bayelsa Coalition for Dynamic Change (BCDC) has made a distress appeal to the federal government and the West African Examination Council to consider it as a matter of urgent to conduct this year’s WASSC examination in August.
This, the group said has became necessary as it would curb the ongoing frustrations affecting parents and the 1.5million students who register with WAEC for the WASSC examination.
The group lamented that the students also sat for this year’s JAMB examination and succeeded but have no certificates to gain admissions into tertiary institutions in the country as a result of the federal government delay to give WAEC the go ahead to conduct the examination.
The group further added that the appeal is imperative as the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given tertiary institutions the nod to commence first and second choice admission for 2020/2021 from August 21.
The National Coordinator of the group, Comrade Majesty Inegbagha made the appeal in Yenagoa, in a chat with newsmen while highlighting the consequences of the Federal Ministry of Education decision to delay the West African Senior School Examination in Nigeria.
The body, who described the federal ministry of education decision as a deliberate attempt to punish the students and their parents, stressed the need to immediately reverse the decision in order to give the students and their parents a sense of belonging.
According to them the decision apart from given parents and students sleepless night, especially those who passed the JAMB examination, wonder why Adamu Adamu will wrongly advise Mr President who is doing things uprightly to forgo or delay this year’s WASSC examination.

Noting
the moral and legal implication of Nigeria as a signatory to WAEC laws or the
effect of such unilateral declaration of withdrawal,they pleaded with Buhari
to emulate the other four countries under the WAEC umbrella and conduct WASSCE examination
now.
