Nigeria Labour Congress declares workforce total support for Gov Diri - Ndiomu •Assured workers payment of promotion arrears

 Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has declared workers total support for Governor Douye Diri’s led Prosperity government towards achieving its development agenda to move the state to greater height.

The State Chairman, Comrade John Bipre Ndiomu dropped the hint in an exclusive interview with Global Overseer on Tuesday in his office, Yenagoa.

The worker’s boss lauded the Governor for giving the Civil Service which he described as the engine room of every government a pride of place in his administration, pointing out that the governor has started well and he would also finish well.

He expressed the commitment and the resolve of the workforce in the state to do all it can to ensure that the present administration succeed in all its plans to make the state a haven of peace and prosperity to uplift the socio-economic well being of the people.

Comrade Ndiomu pleaded with civil servants of the state to exercise patience over the promotion arrears owed them arising from the 2016 economic recession, stating emphatically that Governor Diri’s led administration was informed and is prepared to offset all entitlements due workers in the state, particularly the promotion arrears.

He applauded Governor Diri for his prompt monthly payment of gratuities to retirees as well as the payment of the 2011 18 percent minimum wage arrears to teachers and also clearing the 2007 weigh in arrears.

 The workforce boss used the forum to call on the state government to maintain the tempo by continuing the way it has started by ensuring regular monthly payment of gratuities to pensioners.

He described Governor Diri’s addition of N500 million to the regular monthly amount approved for payment of retirees in the state as a step in the right direction, noting that the gesture will boost the speedy payment of all gratuities to pensioners  in the state.
