Senator denies governorship ambition in Bayelsa

 The Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial District, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe has said that he has no intention to contest against the incumbent governor of the state, Senator Douiye Diri in 2023 governorship election.

 Senator Moses made the clarification in Yenagoa, while distributing musical instruments worths millions of Naira to the various Churches in the Senatorial district.

He described the fabricated story circulating in the social media as a ploy to cause disaffection between him and governor whom he said is his elder brother.

The senator further stated emphatically that the position he is occupying as a Senator was given to him by Governor Diri, pointing out that he cannot contest against his brother, the governor, who is the leader of the party in the state.

“I don’t live my life that. It is God that gives power. It is better I say this publicly to allow this thing to rest,” he stated.

He praised God for using Governor Douye Diri and Senator Henry Seriake Dickson to make him a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Presenting his keynote address, Senator Moses maintained that those who are transparent and accountable to their people are always ready to showcase their accomplishments.

This, he said was to encourage others in order to deliver good governance to their constituents.

The senator affirmed that his sojourn in the senate will be a turning point in the history of the senatorial district.

He declared that the development in his senatorial district will make Bayelsa state a destination of interest to all lovers of development.

“I am a man of conviction and I believe in the dictum which says” Charity begins at home.” Hence, I have chosen the church as my first port of call to appreciate God and the body of Christ for all their prayers and support in my electioneering campaigns,” he stated.

Unfolding his development programmes for the area, Senator Moses pledged to embark on empowerment and vocational training programme for youths and women across the senatorial district in a few weeks’ time.

The move, he said was designed to equip them with the needed skills to create wealth and put food on the tables of those who would utilize the opportunity.

This apart, he said by the end of November, his senatorial district would witness road constructions as well as provision of solar lights to selected communities to curb blackout and check criminal activities.

In addition, according to Senator Moses 200 youths of the area including from churches would be engaged to carryout enlightenment campaigns against drug abuse to minimize its menace arising from the use of illicit drugs.
