Sagbama, Ekeremor Indigenes Restate its stance on zoning political offices . Zoned senatorial seat to Ekeremor, Reps for Sagbama

In a bid to strengthen the existing unity and peaceful co-existence among the people devoid of greed and egocentric tendencies, indigenes of Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas of Bayelsa state have restated its stance of zoning the Bayelsa West Senatorial seat for 2023 elections to Ekeremor while the House of Representatives seat for Sagbama.

 

Addressing a joint press conference in Yenagoa, on Saturday, a group under the aegis of Concerned Indigenes of Sagbama/Ekeremor Local Government Areas, said, the prevailing unity among the people of the two local government areas cannot be over-emphasized.

The group who spoke through its Spokesman, Prince Bodi-Arerebo advised the people of Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government Areas not to allow anybody to use them as stooge to cause catastrophe and acrimony within the brotherhood and the love the people shared over the years.

He re-emphasized that issues of election or elected offices with Sagbama and Ekeremor are based on zoning.

His words: “The issue of election or elected offices with Sagbama and Ekeremor local government area is based on zoning. The senatorial seat of Sagbama/Ekeremor is based on zoning.  We as Sagbamas and the people of Ekeremor have agreed that if Sagbama has concluded its eight years, it should be shifted to Ekeremor. We want to use this opportunity to tell our brothers and sisters and the entirety of Sagbama/Ekeremor people that we should not allow any body to use any of us as stooge to cause catastrophe and acrimony within the brotherhood and the love we share over these 16 years.

We want to let every Sagbama brother and individual to know that some of us who are there trying to use them that they should be there forever is a wrong notion and motive to work on. And we the Sagbama people, let us go for our House of Representatives,” he stated.

He pointed out that others who served two tenures before Senator Henry Seriake Dickson who has gone and replaced Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo to complete his tenure of eight years following his elevation to the position of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa state have respected the existing zoning.

Bodi-Arerebo therefore urged the people of Ekeremor Local Government Area to bring a credible person who has the qualities of unifying the people, and that is focus with good ideas that will run good development programmes that would impact positively on the lives of Sagbama/Ekeremor people, to occupy the senatorial seat in 2023.

Speaking also, the former Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Governor on Security Matters under Chief Timipre Sylva’s regime, Chief Perekeme R. Kpodoh advised Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the immediate past Governor of Bayelsa State to rescind his intention to recontest for senatorial seat zoned to Ekeremor local government area against the wishes of the people.

Reaffirming that it is the turn of Ekeremor Local Government area to occupy the senatorial seat in 2023, Chief Kpodoh advised the serving senator and former governor of the state to eschew greed and acts that would fan embers of disunity and acrimony by humbly withdrawing his ambition to contest for the senatorial election.

He asked “what are his contributions for the development of Bayelsa state in eight good years apart from the debts burden he allegedly left behind to mortgage the future of the lives of the people?

What about the N1 billion that was saving every month? If you save one, one billion Naira every month you know what it is.

Let them tell us how much he left behind for the present administration. It is not by putting yourself arrogantly and pompously claiming what you ought not to be. Let us forget about greed and be honest to ourselves,” Kpodoh averred.
