Group warns unconstructive critics of Gov Diri's administration . Applauds his exceptional achievements

Unconstructive critics of Governor Douye Diri’s administration in Bayelsa state have been warned to desist from acts capable of distracting government genuine intention geared towards uplifting the socio-economic wellbeing of the people, provision of basic infrastructures as well as making the state a haven of peace and prosperity.

A development-oriented organization under the aegis of Friends of Senator Douye Diri (FSDD) gave the warning through its President, Prince Bodi-Arerebo Esebrafa John during a press briefing in Yenagoa.

Prince Bodi-Arerebo who lauded Senator Diri for his unparalleled achievements within the first two years in office, said without mincing word that there is no administration that has done what the governor is doing in terms of social character, embracing everyone and sundry.

He pointed out alleging that a previous administration hunted its critics to disable them, but the prosperity government led by Senator Diri as peoples –oriented administration ignored such acts but focus on issues that would enhance on the wellbeing of the people.

The organization boss lamented that previous administrations had left behind different burdens to the current government, but extolled the governor over his unprecedented development strides despite the challenges inherited.

“What we see Senator Douye Diri, today, shouldering or carrying is multiple of accumulated problems that will take sometimes to solve.

Notwithstanding, he is trying his best to solve all these problems including debts; carryover debts.

If you are opportune to ask some of the people who are in the governance, who are in the system and question, they will open up a lot of things. Then, you know that Senator Douye Diri is really trying to unite the state, to pay off debts, contractors and all the rest. The governor is doing the best he can do. He deserves commendations from all,” he stated.

The body highly praised the governor for the various projects he has completed and commissioned during the second anniversary in office, noting no fewer than 30 roads, educational, health, media and agricultural projects.

Some of these projects as he mentioned include those inherited from the past administration and completed in the last one year and others initiated by the Governor Diri government during same period.

Just to mention a few, they include the Yenagoa-Oporoma road, Bayelsa State Mega Media Complex for Radio Bayelsa, Niger Delta Television and the Bayelsa Newspaper Corporation.

Others were the Igbedi road, Glory Drive road, Bayelsa Transport Terminal at Igbogene, Phase One of the Igbogene/AIT Ring Road, the Elebele bridge, the Onopa bridge and its access roads; as well as the flag-off a bridge project across River Nun at Angiama linking Oporoma, headquarters of the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Speaking further, Prince Bodi-Arerebo expressed pleasure that the Governor Diri has mobilized contractors to site to ensure the completion of ongoing projects including Nembe-Brass road and Glory Land Drive to link Igbogene among others.

On worker’s welfare, the organization boss thanked the governor for the prompt payment of civil servant’s salaries and pensions and gratuities to retirees of the civil service in line with his electioneering promises.

 He described the gesture as an eloquent testimony of his administration’s desire to improve the living condition of workers and move the state forward.

The body used the forum to congratulate Senator Douye Diri on the appointment of Brigadier General Eric Angaye as Chief Security Coordinator/ state Coordinator, Community Safety Corps, describing the gesture as a clear manifestation of state government desire to safeguard lives and property.

He called on the people of the state to always create the enabling peaceful atmosphere for Governor Diri’s administration to give good governance, noting that development of any society is a collective responsibility of all.
