Bayelsa Assembly Passes College of Management and Technology Bill into Law

The Bàyelsa State House of Assembly at its plenary session on Tuesday, presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Abraham Ingobere, passed into law a Bill that seeks to establish College of Management and Technology.

The passage of the Bill was sequel to a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Rt. Hon Monday-Bubou Edwin Obolo and was seconded by Hon Ben Ololo, member representing Nembe Constituency One in the House.

 

Earlier, the House moved into the Committee of the whole to consider the Bill clause by clause, but since it got the legislative nod of members, without petition or comment, the committee of the whole adopted the report of the House Committee on Education in its entirety based on the satisfactory work done on the piece of legislation.

Speaking shortly after the passage of the Bill, the Speaker, Rt Hon Abraham Ingobere expressed deep appreciation for members and Clerks at Table for their efforts and various contributions towards the quick passage of the Bill.

The Speaker, noted the significance of the college to the socio-economic wellbeing of the people, and Technological advancement of the state, as it would boost middle level man power.

In a chat with Journalists after the plenary session, sponsor of the Bill, the Majority Leader of the House, Rt Hon Obolo and Chairman House Committee on Education, Hon Salo Adikumo, both stated that the college of Management andTechnology was accorded accelerated passage owning to its importance with the Education sector of the state.

This, they said, was consequence upon the realisation that technical education is the bed rock to the greatly preferred manpower growth of the state.

Also, at its plenary session on Tuesday, the House Committee on Water Resources through its Committee Chairman, Hon Teddy Tonbara Elemeforo presented its report on Water Sector Bill (BYSHA/6B.43).2022 for consideration.

The report, following a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Rt Hon Obolo and seconded by Hon Salo Adikumo, member representing Sagbama Constituency 3 was  adopted as document of the House.
