A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, said Chief Ekeuwei’s appointment is with immediate effect.
Before the new appointment, Ekeuwei, who hails from Azuzuama community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state, served as the Executive Chairman, Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board.
The former member of the House of Assembly in the old Rivers State was also SSG between 2008 and 2011 during the Chief Timipre Sylva administration in the state.
He holds a Master of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Port Harcourt majoring in Development Studies.
He also holds a Bachelor of Education in Political Science (Educational Management and Planning) from the same university and a National Certificate in Education from the Rivers State College of Education (now Ignatius Ajuru University of Education)
The SSG’s office became vacant after the former occupant, Dr. Friday Konbowei Benson, resigned last year and eventually picked the ticket as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Bayelsa Central Senatorial District in the 2023 election.
