Remains of Chief Columbus Williams Ogbara laid to rest at his home town

The remains of Chief Columbus Williams Ogbara has been laid to rest at his home town, Ayakoro in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa state.

 

Chief Ogbara, a renowned businessman and a community leader who lived a fulfilled life died at the age of 81after a brief illness.

The burial rites of the deceased attracted dignitaries from all walks of life who trooped to the community to condole the bereaved family and pay him their last homage.

Many described the deceased as ``a bridge builder and man of vision " who believed in what is right for his people.

Indeed, “He has left big shoes that will be difficult to be worn by anybody.”

His Royal Highness Righteous Gens Inegbagha, paramount ruler of the community was accompanied by his Deputy and Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku Ph.D, Chiefs and the Elders of the community to attend the burial ceremonies.

 The corpse of the great hero left the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Otuoke in a motorcade to Onuebum where it was received by the Elabha’s family before it was transited to Ayakoro in a River Ambulance boat.

At Ayakoro the Chiefs and elders received the corpse before it was laid in- state at his residence.

 

 The funeral service took place at St. Mark Anglican Church at the same day before his commendation service and burial on Saturday April 22nd, 2023.

The family also held a Thanksgiving Service on April 23, 2023, Sunday to thank God for his successful burial.

 Barrister S Smooth and his Ijaw Musical Band entertained guests and visitors till dawn.

Chief (Hon.) Joshua MacIver; former APC Governorship Aspirant, Hon. Victor Isaiah; immediate past Chairman of Brass Local Government Area and former Candidate for Brass-Nembe Federal Constituency Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ben Selekaye Victor; Member-Elect Southern Ijaw Constituency 4 Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Chief Preye Agama; APC Youth Leader and other dignitaries also accompanied the Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku Ph. D to Ayakoro to participate in the burial programmes.
