Works Commissioner applauded launch of 630m Angiama-Oporoma Bridge

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei, has expressed satisfaction with the significant progress on the 630-metre Angiama–Oporoma Bridge, as the launching of beams for the final 210 metres commenced.

Describing the bridge as the longest state-funded standalone bridge in Nigeria, Teibowei noted that with 420 metres already concreted, the most challenging phase of the construction has been successfully completed. He commended the pace and quality of work delivered so far.

The Commissioner emphasized his continued oversight of the project, stating that he was present during the launch of the first set of beams and has once again witnessed the laying of the final beams, demonstrating the government’s commitment to timely project delivery.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that Governor Douye Diri’s administration is executing transformative infrastructure initiatives across the state to connect more communities to the capital and set a new standard for development.

Answering questions on construction, the Project Manager of CCECC, Mr. Peter Pan, assured that the bridge will be completed by the end of December, noting that with the final segment of beams now in place, the remaining construction tasks will progress more swiftly.

The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection visit by the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Apurumelala Cliff-Eribo.
