GSS OKPOAMA:OLD STUDENTS URGED TO SUPPORT SCHOOL

Old Students of Government Secondary School, Okpoama have been charged to come together to support the school in various ways.

A legal practitioner and Ghanaian former teacher of the school, Darlington Edward gave the charge in Yenagoa during a reunion ceremony with his former students  in Yenagoa. 

Mr Darlington who taught in the school in the 1980s and 90s said government cannot do everything for the numerous schools, noting that the old students can fill the gap.

He said old students must be committed enough to sacrifice part of their income for the upliftment of their school. 

The English, Literature and Government teacher at the time said it was a home coming for him to  meet old students, saying when he returned to Ghana he felt like he was in a foreign country. 

Mr Darlington who has since returned  to Kumasi, Ghana said he was looking forward to returning to Bayelsa State to meet wirh more students and teachers.

Ealier, a former student and former Chairman of the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Tarinyo Akono had welcomed the former teacher and thanked him for the unique opportunity to meet with him in Yenagoa after several decades.
