Ogbia Woman of Substance begs Gov Diri, APC Stakeholders to Choose Her As Ogbia Constituency I Party Flagbearer

Ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, a woman of substance, a mobilizer, and development-oriented leader contesting for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in Ogbia Constituency I, Chief (Mrs) Asuaguti Ethel Otazi, heartily implored the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri and stakeholders to unanimously choose her as the Party's flagbearer for the 2027 general election.

Chief Otazi made the appeal while address newsmen in Yenagoa shortly after her party's screening.
The APC Chieftain who had worked in various field of human endeavours for over 30 years including in administration, healthcare delivery, prudent financial management, community works, mobilisations with exceptional wealth of experience and closeness to the rural dwellers, and retired as a local government council treasurer, maintained emphatically that her choice will bring victory to the party in all the party's elections in the area.

On what compels her to contest, she said was due to the desired need to give experience women positions of trust to enable them play active role in societal development at the lawmaking house.
She lamented that since the inauguration of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in 1999, no woman from Ogbia Constituency I was giving the Opportunity to serve the people in the State House of Assembly.
She pointing out that she has all the credentials to serve his Constituents and the state creditably in the house, if given the mandate to bring the dividends of democracy to the people.
Her words “I decided to run because women do so much work in politics, especially at the grassroots, but they are hardly given the chance to lead.
Women campaign, mobilize people, vote, and support the party strongly, yet leadership opportunities mostly go to men. I believe it is time for women to also have a stronger voice and proper representation.
I have served people for over 30 years through healthcare, finance, and community work, and I believe my experience and closeness to the people will help me serve Ogbia Constituency I, and the state well.
I am running to represent women, men, youths, and the ordinary people who want honest and effective leadership.”
On what people should expect from her if given the mandate, she said if by the grace of God she has been given the mandate, she will ensure effective representation and acts as the voice and legislative agent for the Constituency with primary duties on good lawmaking, effective representation, oversight, and constituency development.
She pledged to bridge the gap between local needs and state policy, and advocate for constituents' interests.
Chief Otazi pledged to sponsor bills, move motions, support good resolutions of the house and passing of bills to ensure peace, order, and good governance in the state.
As a representative, she also pledged to voice the concerns, complaints of her constituents and make suggestions in the Assembly to avoid marginalization.
She assured proper use of their oversight function to bring about meaningful development in the state through proper implementation of policies to ensure transparency and accountability.
Otazi assured to ensure even distribution of constituency Projects that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
“If I win, I will focus on improving the lives of the people through empowerment, education support, agriculture, and community development.
I want to create more opportunities for women and youths through training, support programs, and small business empowerment.
I will also make sure there is transparency and accountability in how government resources are used.
Most importantly, I want to stay close to the people and make sure their voices are heard and respected," she stated.
