Commissioner calls for collective efforts to transform Bayelsa to greater height .Commends Governor Diri, Deputy over his appointment

The newly sworn in Commissioner for Power
and Water Resources in Bayelsa state, Mr Ebitei Robert Tonyon has called for
collective efforts in order to transform the state to greater height.

Mr Tonyon who made the call in an exclusive
interview with Global Overseer shortly after his reception ceremony in Yenagoa,
stressed the need to embrace the policies and programmes of Governor Douye
Diri’s lead prosperity government aimed at attaining the desired development of
the state.
He further emphasized the need Bayelsans
should see the development of the state as a collective responsibility by
contributing meaningfully their quotas in support of government efforts towards
developing the state,
Mr Tonyon on his part pledged to live above
board and work selflessly and assiduously by according the development of the
state as his primary priority above personal gains.
The dynamic and resourceful Commissioner of
exemplary leadership qualities, promised to work with the staff of his ministry
as a team toward the realization of the set objectives of the ministry under
the prosperity Government to meet the yearnings and the aspirations of the
people in the power and water sector.
On staff welfare, Mr Tonyon expressed his
determination to embark on training and retraining programmes for staff to
enhance their performance.
He highlighted on the significant of power
and potable water towards boosting the socio-economic wellbeing of the people
and industrialization in the state.
According to him, he would operate an open
door policies that will welcome useful suggestions and ideas that would
transform the power and water sector of the state.
On the issue of high electricity bills
impose by the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) and
illegal collection of light bills even without electricity supply, the Commissioner
said he will meet with his staff before conveying a meeting between the
ministry and PHEDC to resolve the issue.
The Honourable Commissioner used the forum
to expressed deep appreciation to Governor Douye Diri and his amiable Deputy,
Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for considering him worthy to serve in the State
Executive Council as a Commissioner for Power and Water Resources.

He said the gesture is an eloquent testimony
of the confidence reposed in his ability to work tirelessly with utmost
transparent honesty to deliver the dividends of democracy for the people.
Mr Tonyon thanked the former Governor of the
state, Hon Henry Seriake Dickson for given him the opportunity to serve in the
Restoration Government for 6 months before its expiration.
