November 11 Governorship Election: Why Ogbara Want Bayelsans to Unanimously Vote for Gov Diri

The Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly
and member representing Ogbia Constituency 3, Hon (Chief) Gabriel Ogbara has
advanced reasons why Bayelsans irrespective of their political affiliations
should unanimously vote for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
Senator Douye Diri for a second tenure in office.
Chief Ogbara who spoke to Global Overseer in an exclusive
interview in Yenagoa, said, Governor Diri, apart from the fact that he is the
best and only one with competence and capacity for the task ahead among the
rest contenders, he deserves a second tenure based on his exceptional

He averred that the governor has recorded commendable
and unprecedented achievements in all sector of the state's economy which
uplifted the socio-economic wellbeing of the people.
The lawmaker asserted that all patriotic Bayelsans are
not unaware of the various achievements of Senator Diri's administration,
especially in the areas of physical infrastructure, health, agriculture,
education, sports, security and conflict resolution, skill acquisition and
human capacity development among prompt payment of civil servant’s salaries,
pension and gratuities to retirees.
This apart, he added that Governor Diri's prosperity
government also established jobs outside the state's civil service through
investments in several skill acquisition programmes, support for small scale
businesses and in agriculture among others to better the lots of the people.
He noted with pleasure saying that Governor Diri has
actualized his good leadership qualities by carrying out his government
continuity policy to complete projects initiated by previous administration',
particularly the Sagbama-Ekeremor road and the ongoing Yenagoa- Oporoma road,
the Glory Drive, as well as rehabilitation of many internal roads with potholes
to enhance smooth movement of vehicles and people in the state capital.
He maintained that this administration has constructed
and completed 30 new internal concrete roads, completion and commissioning of
Elebele bridge which serves as a link to many communities in Ogbia Local
government area as well as Bayelsa East Senatorial District, the Nembe Unity
bridge and the ongoing Nembe -Brass road.
Other projects executed to mention a few include the
4.58 Km Igbedi road, ultra-modern transport terminal, Onopa bridge, Bayelsa
State Mega Media Complex for Radio Bayelsa, Niger Delta Television and Bayelsa
Newspaper Corporation.
He said the administration safeguard lives and
property with the introduction of the new security outfit tagged" Bayelsa
State Community Safety Corps” to curb criminal activities and insecurity in the
state knowing it well that peace is the pre-requisites for development.
"Douye Diri to me I see him as a God sent leader
to Bayelsa state. Bayelsans should massively vote for him to complete his good
works. I fervently believe that when he comes back he will perform better than
this because on inception to office he spent almost one year for litigations
which distracted him to some extent to carry out his development plan.
We don't need a new person. We need Governor Douye
Diri on November 11 governorship election so that the person that will replace
him in 2028 will start where he stops. We don't need a new Governor. Douye Diri
is doing well", Ogbara said.
The lawmaker described Senator Diri as a humble,
God-fearing and a detribalize leader who attend to issues, ready to listen,
take advice and as a man who has the people of the state at heart and with good
intentions to developing the state.
Diri has kept the hopes of Bayelsa people high since
inception to office and he believes in integrity and fair sense of judgement.
He said that the track record and experience of governor Diri put him ahead of
other candidates in the November 11, governorship election.
He therefore enjoined the people of the state to rally
round Diri, the person they have tested and know his pedigree and as a man who
takes public interest above personal considerations, stressing that his second
tenure would usher in the desired political condition that the state needs for
its rapid socio-economic growth and development.
