Royal Father Urges Staff to Embrace Duty, Collective Responsibility

Chairman of the Bayelsa State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty King Bubaraye Dakolo, Agada IV, has urged staff of the Council to recommit themselves to duty, uphold humility, and embrace collective responsibility in the discharge of their functions.

King Dakolo gave the charge during a meeting with staff at his office in the Traditional Rulers Council Secretariat, Yenagoa.

The Monarch emphasized that the strength, efficiency, and integrity of any institution are rooted in the attitude, discipline, and conduct of its workforce. 

The Chairman also underscored the importance of self-discovery and personal development, both at the individual and institutional levels, noting that character, workplace ethics, unity, and financial prudence are essential to building a functional and respected organization.

Condemning what he described as a rising culture of entitlement, King Dakolo warned that such behaviour diminishes personal dignity and undermines institutional respect. He reminded staff that working in the Council places them in a privileged environment rich with opportunities for learning, and encouraged them to take advantage of available books and knowledge resources.

In her remarks, the Acting Secretary of Council, Mrs. Beauty Alagoa, commended the Chairman’s fatherly leadership style, noting that staff welfare, administrative order, and exposure to high-level engagements have improved significantly under his tenure.

Similarly, the Head of Administration, Mrs. Timipa Clarkson, and a staff member, Mr. Kemelayefa Kubor, expressed appreciation to His Majesty for prioritizing staff well-being.

Among the issues raised during the meeting was a request for improved electricity supply at the Secretariate.
